20 MIAA employees face dismissal over drugs use
AT least 20 employees of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) will be terminated from work for using illegal drugs.
MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal refused to divulge the names of the employees, but said the 20 personnel were regular customers of Jesus Dotollo, an alleged drug pusher working as janitor assigned at the administration building of the MIAA.
Dotollo was arrested by the Airport Police Department Special Task Force group when he was about to deliver the three plastic sachets containing shabu to the MIAA employees while he was on duty on Apr. 3.
Dotollo disclosed the names of the 20 employees who regularly bought drugs from him.
Monreal added that the 20 airport personnel were subjected to surveillance by the airport police task force to confirm Dotollo’s statement.
Dotollo revealed his shabu supplier but Monreal refused to disclose the names of the supplier pending a follow-up investigation.
Monreal said he will impose random drug tests to all MIAA employees. Those found to be positive of using illegal drugs will be terminated immediately.
Dotollo is now detained at the Pasay City Jail facing charges of violations of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Drug Law filed before the Pasay City Prosecutors Office.
