3 lucky FDHs each get P50,000 upon arrival in Manila

MANILA—Three Filipino domestic workers from Kuwait were surprised when they each received P50,000 when they arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) this afternoon (December 27).

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello lll said domestic workers Aurora Abelle Casino, a native of Leyte; Aisa Ismail Husain, of Isabela, Basilan; and Annabel Mario Melencio of Surigao del Norte, each received P50,000 in cash as part of the Department of Labor and Employment’s Pamaskong Handog for OFWs 2018.

The traditional salubong for vacationing and returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) was held at around 4 p.m. at Gate 7 of the arrival area of NAIA Terminal 1.

Bello, was assisted by Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) chief Hans Leo Cacdac in awarding the cash gifts to the three lucky OFWs.

They also distributed P10,000 worth of gift items to 10 OFWs and Christmas baskets to another 10 migrant workers who arrived from Kuwait at 3:15 pm onboard Kuwait Airways Flight 417.

The three lucky OFWs who each got P50,000 said they plan to use the money to put up new businesses so that they would no longer need to work abroad.

Husain, one of the lucky three, said she had been working as domestic helper for almost 30 years in Kuwait and it was her first time to win the cash prize in the Pamaskong Handog for OfWs.
