SIXTY kilos of Everlasting flowers (Xerochrystum bracteatum) were flown in from Baguio to serve as the centerpiece of the Philippine Consulate General’s booth at the 2017 Hong Kong Flower Show.

Consul-General Bernardita Catalla said PCG officials worked for four days to sort the flowers, put up the jeepney, and paint the booth.

“The centerpiece is the jeep and we covered it with everlasting flowers. We thought of using everlasting kasi hindi nabubulok,” Catalla said.

It was worth it as the PCG booth received a “Special Award in Design Excellence”.

This was the first time the PCG has joined the flower show.

In previous years, the Knights of Rizal had put up a booth at the flower show, and became the unofficial representative of the Philippines.
