Two domestic workers were among Hong Kong’s 18 new confirmed cases of coronavirus infection, health authorities reported Saturday.

One of those domestic workers arrived on Aug. 28 from the Philippines. She is among the two imported cases—the other is from Pakistan.

An Indonesian domestic worker who is living with her employer had unknown sources of infection. Dr. Chuang Shuk-kwan from the Centre of Health Protection said she developed close contacts upon their move to Tsuen Wan from Kwai Fong, including her employer, an elderly woman, and her granddaughter.

She is among the five whose COVID-19 infection could not be linked to previous sources.

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the city is now at 4,787—as over 100,000 people have signed up for the universal community testing program, which began registration today.

Chuang said the public should take the opportunity to get tested to break silent coronavirus transmission chains.
