YOU made a difference when you decided to join the Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship Seminar and spent your precious day-off learning worthwhile things as a preparation for a brighter future” , these were the inspiring words of Vice Consul Robert Quintin in his keynote speech to 216 graduates of the Introductory Course of Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship in the Graduation Ceremony of CARD Hong Kong Foundation, held at the Duke of Windsor Social Services Building, afternoon of Nov. 26.

On the same note, Emelita Artillaga, a CARD member, expressed her thanks as she shared how CARD assisted her in her successful business venture in the Philippines. She also mentioned that because of CARD guidance and assistance, she was able to improve her family’s standard of living and was able to send her children to college.

Meanwhile, testimonials from the representatives of the different batches namely: Melinda Ponceja , Jeneth Payot, Ma. Jofel Javier, Veronica Umayam, Joshua Ibarra, Rosalin Arcon, Ninfa Isidro also served as inspiration as they shared the pieces of wisdom they gained from seminars they attended.

The OFW Pledge written by Edna Aquino( founder and adviser of the group) further inspired the graduates as they recited 10 promises summed up to promote common good. The activity was led by Corazon Villanueva and Cecilia Eduarte- both CARD HK Foundation trainers.

Mass singing of “If we hold on together”, led by Maritess Mapa- trainer and OFW Board Member, also made the afternoon more memorable as graduates sang the meaningful lyrics while holding hands.

Ching Baltazar, trainer and OFW Board Member, completed the ceremony that was started by Clara Baybay, chairperson of the CARD HK Foundation, who gave her welcome remarks.

Baltazar underscored the importance of “loving oneself” and giving priority to health. She urged fellow OFWs to take care of their health and to save for future needs.

Other highlights of the pre-graduation activity held before the graduation proper included the updates on linking with families in the Philippines and presentation of CARD products and services.
