The Hong Kong Observatory said temperatures may drop to 8 degrees Celsius on Friday morning.

The Hong Kong Observatory issued a “cold weather warning” on Thursday afternoon as the temperature is expected to drop to 8 degrees Celsius on Friday.

The Observatory forecasted cold weather in the following days.

“People are advised to put on warm clothes and ensure adequate indoor ventilation,” it said in its advisory.

Those living on high ground may experience colder temperatures due to the wind chill effect and warned that prolonged exposure to these winds may lead to hypothermia.

“If you know of elderly persons or persons with chronic medical conditions staying alone, please call or visit them occasionally to check if they need any assistance,” the Observatory said.

The Observatory said the cold and dry weather will persist until midweek next week, under the influence of the winter monsoon.
