Filipina domestic worker among 12 new COVID-19 cases

A Filipino domestic worker who recently returned to Hong Kong tested positive for the coronavirus, health officials confirmed.

The helper is among the three imported cases newly confirmed on Tuesday, Dr. Chuang Shuk-kwan from the Centre of Health Protection said.

The remaining two are returnees from India and from Bangladesh respectively.

Only one had an unknown source of infection: a 64-year-old man who worked in a construction site in Discovery Bay. At least a dozen of his colleagues will be considered close contacts and will be quarantined.

The remaining eight got infected in family clusters, Chuang said.

There have been a total of 4,823 confirmed cases in Hong Kong. The death of a 66-year-old female patient has brought the number of COVID-19 related deaths in the city to 90.

Chuang said samples gathered from the universal community testing program today which test preliminary positive for the coronavirus will go through another confirmatory test tomorrow.
