Three domestic workers among Hong Kong’s new COVID-19 cases

Two domestic workers tested positive and an Indonesian domestic worker tested preliminarily positive for the coronavirus Friday, Hong Kong health authorities said.

One of the new cases is a domestic worker who stayed in a boarding facility in Tsuen Wan where an Indonesian helper previously tested positive.

Another Indonesian domestic worker who stayed in a boarding facility in Cheung Hing Mansion, Mong Kok also tested positive.

Dr. Chuang Shuk-kwan from the Centre for Health Protection said the domestic helper left her former employer on 28 July. The worker got tested after finding out about a previous case in the boarding house from the news.

An Indonesian domestic worker posted a preliminarily positive after staying in a boarding facility in Haven Court, Causeway Bay. A previous case was also recorded in the same boarding house.

They make up Hong Kong’s 48 newly confirmed cases and 30 preliminary positive cases.

The passing of two elderly males with COVID-19, aged 82 and 69, brought the number of coronavirus-related deaths in the city to 67.

Hong Kong has so far recorded 4,361 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
