THE Social Welfare Office at the Philippine Consulate will be shut down temporarily starting July 31.

Social Welfare Attache Elizabeth Lim-Dy told Hong Kong News she was recalled by her home office as she finished her tour of duty here in the city.

“This is temporary kasi wala pa akong replacement. In the meantime, ang mga gamit namin is for safekeeping,” she said.

Dy added that she could still communicate and counsel with distressed Filipinos in Hong Kong via mail or even phone calls.

She said she would also follow up the cases of Hong Kong-based Filipinos whose problems or concerns were about their family in the Philippines.

“We also have our counterparts here in the Assistance to Nationals section and other partners and stakeholders so open pa din ang ating services,” she added.

Dy’s sole staff – Marlyn Villas – meanwhile was recommended for a new post by Consul General Bernardita Catalla.

“May mga recommendations na ginawa si ConGen kasi the service naman of Lyn is very good and she really performed especially sa correspondence with inmates,” she said.
