Filipino dies by suicide in Sheung Wan

A Filipino died by suicide on Feb.23 in Sheung Wan due to problems concerning “personal love affairs,” the police told Hong Kong News on Feb.24.

The 40-year-old man, Elmo A., hanged himself using a wire in a building at  214, Des Voeux Road Central. His wife, a 45-year-old Filipina, reported the incident to the police at 7:48 pm on Sunday.

The police did not find a suicide note. After initial investigation, it was believed that the incident was not suspicious, however, the police report said.

“Bukas ang aming hotlines mula ATN at POLO para tumanggap ng tawag,” Consul General Raly Tejada said. “Nandiyan din si Elizabeth Dy ng DSWD [Department of Social Welfare and Services] para magbigay ng payo at counselling.”
