HONG KONG Police on Thursday confirmed that a 46-year-old Filipino helper was found dead floating in Repulse Bay at about six in the morning.

A spokesman for the Hong Kong Police Force told Hong Kong News that the woman, surnamed Canuto, was rescued by personnel of the Fire Services Department, but she was dead on scene.

“Police received a call at 8:58 p.m. on Wednesday night from a Hong Kong man surnamed Yan. He reported that some properties were found on the beach and he suspected that the owner drowned.

“The Police and Fire Services Department launched a rescue and they found her this morning, but she was dead on scene. Preliminary investigation showed no suspicious elements, but this has to be confirmed,” he said.

Meanwhile, Vice Consul Robert Quintin said they have yet to get an official report about the helper from the police.

“Nasa mortuary na [ang body] for positive identification,” Quintin said in a text message.
