A 41-year-old seafarer and a 25-year old domestic worker from the Philippines are among the new imported cases of coronavirus infection in Hong Kong, health authorities said Sunday.

They are two of the five imported cases in the city, Dr. Chuang Shuk-kwan from the Centre of Health Protection said.

There were 15 new confirmed infections–five of these were linked to previous cases, while the source of infection for five others remain unknown.

Chuang added there are 12 or more preliminary positive cases.

This has brought the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the city to 4,802. The death of an 83-year-old female in Tuen Mun Hospital marks the 88th person to have died after testing positive for COVID-19.

The numbers came in light of the over 420,000 residents who booked appointments for the universal community testing programme slated to begin Tuesday, Sept. 1.

The mass testing programme aims to detect silent virus carriers in the city.
