Hong Kong-based Filipina Roselle Morado receives an award for her photography skills.

ROSELLE Azucena Morado, 35, from San Juan Manila,  who has been working as an OFW in Hong Kong  for seven years now, has received an award as “Most Promising Filipina Photographer in HK 2017” at the the 16th Annual Gawad Amerika held at the Celebrity Centre Hollywood, Nov. 18.

The Gawad Amerika started in 1996 and was founded by its Chairman of the Board Charles Simbulan,  who is focused on helping and cultivating the talents of those who lack the necessary resources to follow their dreams.

Roselle expressed her surprise about the award as her  can’t interest in DSLR photography started only  in Oct. 2016. And over just a  year, she has now a received the citation in the  prestigious award-giving body.

Previously, even without a DSLR camera, Roselle used her mobile phone to take photos. Her  interest in photography was further piqued  when she observed photographers taking photos while posing as a model.

She admired their photography skills and that curiosity and admiration challenged her to learn more about it.  She saved money to buy DSLR cameras, joined photography groups such as Lensational and Pinoy Shots etc., and consulted mentors to hone her photography skills.

She also took every chance she could to learn about photography as she  joined nature trips for her landscaping forte as well as attending workshops and researching.

Her efforts were rewarded when a friend of her cousin in Japan noticed her wonderful shots and nominated her  in April in the award-giving body. She completed her portfolio in September and was notified about the good news that she would have the chance to go to the United States to receive the award.

It was a dream come true for Roselle and the recognition paved the way for her to achieve her bigger dreams.

In February 2018,  Roselle will embark on a phase in pursuing her passion through photography studies in Los Angeles,  California for a year. With more opportunities coming her way, we say: “congratulations and God bless you more, Roselle!”
