An Indonesian domestic worker was found dead after reportedly falling from a building in North Point on Thursday.

A police spokesperson told Hong Kong News that a passerby reported finding a woman on the ground near Kingsford Gardens, 202-204 Tin Hau Temple Road at 9:56 a.m.

Officers investigated her death but she was confirmed dead at the scene.

The results of the police’s initial investigation pointed to her fall as an accident, which happened while she was cleaning a windowpane.

Her death comes in the wake of a reminder issued by the Philippine Consulate on Wednesday regarding laws for domestic workers about cleaning windows in high-rise flats.

Item 6 in the Schedule of Accommodation and Domestic Duties under the contract says that if helpers will be required to clean the outer window panes, the windows should be fitted with locked grilles and no part of the helper’s except the arms body extends beyond the windows.

Helpers were told to report incidents that do not follow this.
