Eastern Magistrates' Court in Sai Wan Ho

A Filipina salesperson was fined HK$2,000 on Tuesday after she punched a woman in the face in the World Wide House in Central last September.

N. C. de Guzman pleaded guilty to the charge of common assault before Magistrate Bina Chainrai at the Eastern Courts Tuesday.

De Guzman, 23, had punched the female owner of another shop, L. Maniaul, due to a misunderstanding and left the victim with a busted lip.

The defendant’s lawyer argued that she had an argument with her co-worker and punched her on impulse.

In mitigation, the lawyer argued for De Guzman’s clear criminal record and pleaded for a lenient sentence.
