Rescue workers airlifted this morning (April 1) a 31-year-old Filipino woman who was injured during a hike in Ma On Shan yesterday, local media reported.

According to the Oriental Daily, rescuers used a helicopter to bring the injured hiker to the Eastern Hospital.

It added that she had injuries in her hands, feet, face, and waist but was conscious when she was brought to the hospital.

The accident happened at around 5 p.m. yesterday after the Filipina fell down a 20-metre hillside while hiking with five friends in the Ma On Shan Country Park.

The woman’s friends called for help but, due to the bad weather, rescuers found their location only at around 1:50 a.m.

A group of firefighters secured the injured woman at around 4 a.m. but she could not be airlifted to the hospital immediately due to the fog and the terrain.

The other rescuers accompanied the injured hiker’s friends down the mountain and they arrived at the entrance of the country park at 6 a. m. today.
