A Filipino faces charges for possessing illegal drugs and stealing a bike in Lamma Island several months ago.

J. Fernandez admitted to the charges against him before Magistrate Bina Chainrai at the Eastern Courts Tuesday. He was ordered remanded in custody pending his sentencing on Oct. 20.

Fernandez was charged on two counts of possession of dangerous drugs after he was reportedly arrested by police on the evening of Feb. 11. The prosecution said the defendant had two packets containing a total of 6.54 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride—known in the Philippines as shabu—in his underpants near Central Pier No. 4 on Feb. 11.

When he was brought to the police station after midnight, they found another 0.23 grams of cannabis resin wrapped in tissue in his underpants, the prosecution also.

The defendant had admitted he bought the drugs from someone in Lantau Island for personal use, according to the charge read aloud.

Fernandez was also charged with theft after he stole a red bike from its owner, a certain David Balman, in Yung Shue Long Village in Lamma on July 2, according to the prosecution.

A resident in the area found the defendant pushing the bike, repainted in silver, on July 3. On July 4, the defendant admitted to stealing it, the prosecution said.
