The police arrested a taxi driver at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) after he overcharged the assistant of President Rodrigo Duterte’s fashion designer.

The airport police arrested driver Bong Ramon Leoligao for overcharging Suzanne Nagac at the NAIA Terminal 2 on March 2.

Investigators said Nagac is the executive assistant of Melody “Mimi” Parrel Pimentel, the fashion designer who designed the Mindanao silk barong that the President wore during his inauguration.

According to investigator P02 Roderrick Mejia, Nagac took a regular white taxi that was driven by Leoligao at around 12:30a.m. on March 2.

She asked Leoligao to bring her to the NAIA Terminal 3, which would take only less than 10 minutes using the NAIA skyway at that time.

But while they were at MIAA Road, the driver asked the complainant to pay P600, plus the P45.00 skyway toll fee. Nagac said she tried to argue with the driver but Leoligao was insistent.

After reaching NAIA Terminal 3, Nagac jotted down the taxi’s plate number (TKY 962) and went to the APD (Airport Police Department) to file a complaint.

P02 Mejia said that they verified the status of the taxi and it turned out that it was unregistered and that its plate number was registered to a Toyota Avanza.

Mejia said that the airport police were able to arrest Leoligao at around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday (March 4) while he was waiting for another customer at the NAIA Terminal 2.

Nagac went to the APD office and confirmed that Leoligao was the taxi driver who overcharged her. He was later charged with swindling, estafa, and unjust vexation before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office.
