5th Filipina domestic worker tests positive for COVID-19

Another Filipina domestic worker tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on March 10, bringing the tally of infected Filipina domestic helpers to 5, with the first who contracted the disease released recently.

The Centre for Health Protection earlier said in a press conference today that the domestic worker of the 117th person who tested positive for COVID-19 in Hong Kong was also infected with the disease. Case number 117 is the daughter of a woman who joined a trip to India in February. Her mother also tested positive for COVID-19.

Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan,  head of CHP’s communicable disease branch,said that the domestic worker exhibited symptoms such as cough and sore throat on March 4 and developed fever on March 9.  Prior to that, she went out and met up with her friends in Repulse Bay in the southern part of Hong Kong island.

Consul General Raly Tejada said that four other Filipinos have been quarantined after they have been contact traced to people who tested positive for the virus.
