All eight Filipinos who have been quarantined after they came in contact with people who tested positive for the novel coronavirus illness (COVID-19) have already been released, Philippine Consul General Raly Tejada said on March 1.

The two Filipina domestic helpers who contracted the virus from their employers still remain at the hospital, however.

“Yung una, dapat na-release na last week, but the Hong Kong government is being very cautious,” Tejada said, adding that medical authorities will conduct further tests.

Tejada said that there is a possibility, though, that she can be discharged in the next two days.

He also reassured the public that both patients are already in stable condition. “Maganda ang kalagayan, mataas ang morale.”

The first Filipina domestic helper who got infected with the virus tested positive on Feb. 18. She lives at Quarry Bay with her employer, the 52nd case of COVID-19 infection in Hong Kong.

The 67-year-old woman had dinner at the Star Seafood Restaurant in North Point with four others on Jan.26. They all tested positive for COVID-19.

Another Filipina domestic worker tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease or COVID-19 on Feb.25.

She was the 90th person in Hong Kong who was infected with the virus. The 29-year-old Filipina domestic helper worked for the 85th person who tested positive for the virus. The 60-year-old woman is a member of the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
