Hong Kong has recorded eight new Covid-19 cases—all locally transmitted—in a return to single-digit daily infection tallies on Thursday.

The Centre for Health Protection said in a press release that three of the daily confirmed cases had no traceable source of infection. Two of them are housewives and the other one is a staff member of an elderly care home in Kwun Tong.

A staff member from the Health Department said around 10 people tested preliminarily positive for Covid-19.

The government also issued fixed penalty tickets worth HK$5,000 to around 65 individuals residing in eight buildings in To Kwa Wan, after reportedly violating compulsory testing orders.

A similar operation was conducted yesterday in Tsim Sha Tsui, where at least 60 residents each of Tsim Sha Tsui Mansion and Mirador Mansion were found to have not complied with mandatory testing.
