Police found 100 grams of explosives in powder form in Sha Tau Kok

A Filipina domestic helper was arrested along with two other women on Jan.16, 2020 in Sha Tau Kok for alleged possession of explosives and offensive weapons.

A police spokesman confirmed to Hong Kong News that the domestic helper they nabbed during a search for substances used in making pipe bombs and other explosives in a village in the New Territories region is  a Filipina.

“As to your question, yes, she’s a Filipina. In fact she was one of the people arrested in the operations we conducted this afternoon. She’s 47 years old. She’s detained right now,” the police spokesman said.

He did not reveal her identity, however.

The regional crime squad of the New Territories North and the police search squad arrested her and two other women, aged 27 and 57 upon discovery of 100 grams of explosives in powder form in a site in Sha Tau Kok.

The police conducted the said operations following the arrest of a 29-year-old mechanical technician and nine others on Jan.14 and 15 in a raid which led to the confiscation of pipe bombs, flammable liquid, bulletproof vests and marijuana.

The 27 and 57-year-old women were the wife and mother, respectively, of the mechanical technician who was suspected of keeping explosives in a house in Sha Tau Kok.

He has been charged with the possession of explosive substances at the Fanling Court on Jan.16.
