Hong Kong law enforcers patrolled popular foreign domestic worker haunts to enforce social distancing measures for the third consecutive weekend.

The Hong Kong police along with other government departments went to areas in Admiralty, Causeway Bay, and Central, as well as spaces near New Town Plaza in Sha Tin and Ma On Shan Park to conduct operations, according to a government statement.

A police spokesperson told Hong Kong News they currently do not have figures for fixed penalty tickets issued for violators of anti-epidemic measures.

Authorities have issued at least 94 fixed penalty tickets to offenders of anti-epidemic rules during their previous patrols over the Christmas and New Year holiday weekends.

Among these was a Filipina who was earlier caught wearing without a mask in Statue Square on Dec. 27.

Those caught violating these measures—including the two-person limit to gatherings in public spaces as well as the requirement to wear masks—may be charged HK$5,000.
