‘Newly-arrived’ Filipina domestic worker tests positive for COVID-19

A Filipina domestic worker who flew to Hong Kong from Manila tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus disease.

She is the third Filipina domestic worker who flew to Hong Kong from Manila to have been confirmed to have contracted the virus. The first transited through Taipei while the second one is case no. 327.

“Case 383 is a newly-arrived foreign domestic worker,” Dr. Chuang Shuk-kwan, Communicable Disease Branch Head of the Centre for Health Protection, said in a press conference on March 24.

Consul General Raly Tejada confirmed that the foreign domestic worker is a Filipino and has just arrived here in Hong Kong from Manila.

There are now 11 Filipinos in Hong Kong who have tested positive for COVID-19, four of whom have been released from the hospital.

Hong Kong has an additional 30 cases of COVID-19 infection on March 24, with the total number of cases rising to 386.
