Worst over for Hong Kong, HKO downgrades storm warning

TYPHOON Hato has made landfall over Zhuhai this afternoon after wreaking havoc to Hong Kong earlier today.

The Hong Kong Observatory downgraded the storm warning signal to T8 at 2:10 p.m.

The Observatory issued the T10 signal, the strongest storm warning, at 9:10 a.m. It was the first time in five years that the Observatory issued the strongest storm signal.

Classes and most work were suspended. More than 400 flights were also cancelled.
