Covid-19 daily cases down to 8 in HK but up to almost 8,000 in PH
Hong Kong health authorities have reported eight new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, including a lone imported case from the Philippines where the daily infection tally has hit 7,999.
The 43-year-old female from the Philippines was under quarantine in a hotel in Hung Hom when she tested positive, data from Hong Kong’s Centre for Health Protection said.
The other seven Covid-19 cases in Hong Kong were locally transmitted including an infection with an unknown source—a 42-year-old carpenter who lives in Causeway Bay.
Hong Kong now has a total of 11,371 confirmed Covid-19 cases, while the Philippines has over 656,056 according to its local health department.
The Southeast Asian country last surpassed its record-high daily infection tally a day before when it logged 7,103 new Covid-19 infections, the highest since August 10, 2020.
