The Philippines’ health department tallied 18,332 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, the highest single-daily increase in infections since the pandemic began.

This broke the previous record of 17,321 newly reported Covid-19 infections last Friday, Aug. 20. Monday’s figure vaulted the Philippines’ coronavirus disease caseload to 1,857,646.
