MTR Celebrates 1 July HKSAR Anniversary by Giving Away 71,000 Domestic Single Rides and 26 Annual Passes Through Lucky Draw and Providing Free Travel on Light Rail and MTR Bus

The 26th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is approaching, which also marks the first celebration since Hong Kong returned to normalcy from the pandemic. To share the joy of this remarkable day, MTR Corporation will give away 71,000 MTR Domestic Single Rides and 26 Annual Passes1 through a lucky draw on 1 July 2023, while Light Rail and MTR Bus2 service will also be free all day.

The rewards worth over HK$2.5 million are extra prizes that will be added to the lucky draw through MTR Mobile on 1 July, which is currently arranged to support the “Happy Hong Kong” campaign launched by the HKSAR government. Further details will be announced via MTR Mobile on 24 June.

MTR Corporation will also arrange free travel on Light Rail and MTR Bus on 1 July. Passengers do not need to tap their Octopus or pay any fare when they enter or exit Light Rail stops or board MTR Bus on that day3. Coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the Light Rail service this year, MTR Corporation hopes all citizens from Tuen Mun, Yuen Long, Tin Shui Wai, or other districts can celebrate the 26th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR with wonderful journeys by Light Rail. “MTR has always been committed to the mission of ‘keeping cities moving’.
