No new Covid-19 cases logged
The Centre for Health Protection reported no new Covid-19 cases on Monday, the first time since mid-June.
Hong Kong’s coronavirus case tally stays at 11,952, with 212 related deaths.
A day before, Hong Kong’s 33-day streak of having no local infections ended after an airport staffer was confirmed with a mutated strain of the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the Hong Kong government said it will tighten quarantine requirements for arrivals from Russia starting July 16, in light of the rebound of the epidemic situation in the country and a number of inbound travelers from there found with the L452R mutant strain.
Russia will be placed under the “very high-risk” category on Friday. Anyone who had stayed there three weeks before they departed for Hong Kong, regardless of vaccination status, will be asked to present a negative Covid-19 test result and confirmation of a 21-day reservation at a quarantine hotel.
