FDW from PH among 4 new Covid-19 cases
A domestic worker from the Philippines was among the four new Covid-19 cases health authorities confirmed on Saturday.
The 30-year-old female worker showed no symptoms of infection but she tested positive for the L452R mutant strain while under quarantine in Silka Tsuen Wan hotel in Kwai Chung.
She had received two shots of Sinovac’s vaccine against Covid-19 in the Philippines last June and July, based on data from the Centre for Health Protection.
A Health Department staffer said three of the confirmed cases—including the worker from Manila—carried the L452R mutant strain which is linked to the highly contagious delta variant. Two other arrivals—one from Canada and the other from Japan—were found infected with the same strain.
The fourth Covid-19 case detected today involves a 27-year-old man from the United Arab Emirates.
