Covid-19 positive travelers may choose to recover at hotel or at free government facility: 9th cycle of DQH
Inbound travelers who test positive during their hotel quarantine period will have a choice to either stay at the same hotel until they recover or go to Penny Bay/Kai Tak, a free government-run facility.
Those who do decide to complete their recovery may stay in their hotel quarantine but they will need to shoulder the costs.
Hong Kong’s ninth cycle of the Designated Quarantine Hotel (DQH) scheme will start from Nov.1, 2022, until Feb. 28, 2023.
The Government has already sent letters to hotels or guesthouses with valid licenses to join the latest DQH scheme.
So far, anyone who returns to the city with a positive confirmed case is sent to another hotel for isolation or sent to Penny’s Bay/Kai Tak.
The latest news is a blow for residents, business owners, and lawmakers who had hoped that the current DQH scheme will be the last.
A banker’s summit and Rugby Sevens, an international sporting tournament, are two major events scheduled in November. They were meant to show how the city was open to everyone.
According to the latest Covid-19 update on Sep. 13, there were 7, 067 local new cases with 151 imported cases. 10 people have died within the last 24 hours.
