Filipino woman among 8 arrested in anti-vice operation in Wan Chai

The Wan Chai Police District Special Duties Team, together with the Immigration Department, launched an anti-vice operation in Wan Chai from 2 pm to 11 pm on June 26, arresting eight persons including one Filipino woman in the raid.

The team raided a hotel room in Burlington Road, Wan Chai, two residential buildings in Lockhart Road, and an upstairs unit in a commercial building.

The said police operation was conducted following a tip-off and though investigation.

Eight women were arrested during the operation: 7 from Mainland China, and one from the Philippines, aged between 27 and 37.

They were arrested on suspicion of “breach of condition of stay”.

Upon initial investigation, the Filipino woman was holding a Philippine passport.

During the operation, a number of condoms and other evidence were seized.

All arrestees are being held for further investigation and will be referred to the relevant authorities for follow-up.

Breach of Condition of Stay

Based on the Amended L.N 25 of 1996, any person who contravenes a condition of stay in force in respect of him shall be guilty of an offense and shall be liable on conviction to a fine at level 5 and 2-year imprisonment.
