ImmD details the fifth cycle of Identity Card Replacement Exercise

Immigration Authorities in a government statement said that the fifth cycle of the Territory-wide Identity Card Replacement Exercise will start on April 4, 2022.

The Amendment Order made by the Secretary for Security to make public the call-up programme of the Replacement Exercise with the following details:

Eligible persons

Application period

Holders of the old form of smart identity cards born in 1989, 1990 or 1991

April 4 – June 10, 2022

Holders of the old form of smart identity cards born in 1992, 1993, 1994 or 1995

June 11 – September 7, 2022

Holders of the old form of smart identity cards born in 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 or 2000

September 8 – December 10, 2022

Holders of the old form of smart identity cards born in 1954 or before

April 4, 2022 – January 14, 2023

ImmD spokesman reminded those Hong Kong residents born in 1980, 1981, or 1982 that their replacement period will end on Jan. 18, 2022.

The Replacement Exercise covers all Hong Kong residents including permanent and non-permanent residents who were allowed for employment, make investments, reside or study in Hong Kong.

The ImmD also appeals to the applicants to utilize the ImmD mobile application, the internet, or the 24-hour telephone booking hotline 212 1234 to avoid crowd gathering. Residents can also scan the QR codes to download the mobile application or create an appointment.

Applicants need to bring their old smart identity cards when they proceed to the SIDCCs.
