Remain vigilant against phone scams: HK Immigration Department

Image title

The Immigration Department (ImmD) has all along been very concerned about phone scams involving scammers posing as immigration officers and noticed recent suspicious phone calls with pre-recorded voice messages notifying the recipients about the application form or collection of their documents.

An ImmD spokesman again reminded members of the public that the ImmD does not make any pre-recorded voice calls to members of the public, and the ImmD will not transfer calls to other non-local authorities and ask the call recipients to provide their personal information.

The public should remain vigilant and verify the identity of a caller when receiving suspicious phone calls, and should not disclose any personal information to others arbitrarily. If there is any doubt, please call ImmD’s inquiry hotline at 2824 6111 or email enquiry@immd.gov.hk.

Anyone suspecting a scam should immediately report it to the Police.
