Two newly arrived FDWs found with Covid-19, including one with variant
The Centre for Health Protection confirmed four new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, all of them imported, bringing the city’s coronavirus caseload to 11,873.
Among the four confirmed infections are two foreign domestic workers. One arrived from Sri Lanka on June 5 and was detected carrying a coronavirus variant with the N501Y gene mutation while under hotel quarantine in Sai Ying Pun.
The other domestic worker entered Hong Kong from Indonesia on June 5.
Another confirmed case is a 32-year-old man from Lebanon. He came to Hong Kong on June 5 and was also under quarantine in Sai Ying Pun when he started showing symptoms a day after.
A 22-year-old man from Austria is the fourth confirmed Covid-19 case.
The Department of Health said there were fewer than five people who tested preliminarily positive for Covid-19 infection.
