HK logs 3 new Covid-19 cases
The Centre for Health Protection reported three new Covid-19 cases on Thursday—all imported—bringing Hong Kong’s coronavirus caseload to 11,949.
Of the three new cases, two were confirmed carrying a coronavirus strain with the L452R mutation. The mutation is found in several variants of concern, including the Delta variant which is reported in 96 countries.
One of those found with the L452R strain is a 15-year-old boy returning to Hong Kong on June 30 on Cathay Pacific flight CX252. He showed symptoms on Wednesday while under quarantine at the Lan Kwai Fong Hotel @ Kau U Fong in Central.
The other case with the variant involves a 45-year-old male aircrew member who flew in from Russia on July 6.
The third Covid-19 case is a 51-year-old sea crew member from the Philippines. He entered Hong Kong on July 6.
