HK ends 50-day Covid-19 local streak
The 50-day local infection streak in Hong Kong ended on Friday with a new infection of Covid-19 to an airport freight worker.
The 48-year-old worker lives at Golden Lion Court in Sha Tin with his wife and daughter. The block was on lockdown on Thursday night and all-400 residents tested negative during the compulsory testing.
The freight worker initially tested negative on Sept. 29, but the sample sent last Wednesday tested positive for L452R mutant strain of the coronavirus. He had his jabs on June 25 and July 28 from CoronaVac.
He was admitted to the hospital because of developing symptoms like sore throat and CT value dropped between 15 to 18.
The persons he interacts with at work has been listed as close contacts and will be sent to a quarantine center.
His family is currently admitted to the hospital.
The last reported local case in Hong Kong is on Aug. 17. The confirmed cases of Covid-19 now totaled to 12, 254.
