OFW from Iloilo collapses and dies upon arrival at Queen Mary Hospital
A Filipina domestic worker from Iloilo died shortly after she was found unconscious in a bathroom at her employer’s flat at Victoria Road, Pokfulam on Monday morning, police said.
The Western District Police said that at about 8:45 am on 14 November an employer called 911 to inform that they found their Filipino domestic worker collapsed inside the bathroom.
Over the phone, a police representative explained that the employer reported to them that the domestic worker earlier went inside the bathroom and they were waiting for her to come out.
However, they heard the continuing sounds of running water, so they knocked on the door to call her attention. They got no response, so, they opened the door, and the Filipino woman was found collapsed in the bathroom.
The ambulance arrived at the employer’s flat at Victoria Road, Pokfulam, and the Filipino woman was unconscious when she was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital.
Doctors however declared the Filipino woman dead upon arrival.
Initial police investigation said that the Filipino woman was born in 1956 and holds an HK ID.
The police also mentioned that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death, and the case was classified as “person collapsed”.
One Filipino community leader in Hong Kong informed HKNEWS that the Filipino domestic worker was from Iloilo.
The Philippine Consulate staff relayed that the employer went to their office on Tuesday (15) to coordinate the repatriation of the remains of the OFW from Iloilo.
