From Friday, Sept. 17, inbound foreign domestic workers (FDWs) vaccinated against Covid-19 outside Hong Kong may book rooms for quarantine again at the Penny’s Bay Quarantine Centre.

A statement from the Labour Department website said all available rooms at the facility have been reserved until Oct. 19. But reservations for rooms that will open on Oct. 20 will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday.

The Labour Department explained they will stagger openings slots for quarantine bookings. This means room reservations for Oct. 21 can be made on Sept. 18, those for Oct. 22 on Sept. 19, and so on.

Should any rooms reserved be released, they will be opened for booking again, the department added.

Bookings can be made on this website: http://fdh.labour.gov.hk.

However, the department that successfully applying using the website does not guarantee a successful room reservation.

“The Labour Department (LD) will process the applications in the order of submission of applications,” the department said.

Some 800 units in Phases 1 and 2 of the quarantine facility in Lantau Island were opened to augment the supply of rooms designated for inbound FDWs arriving from high-risk places.

Initially, the Hong Kong government had Silka Tsuen Wan as the sole quarantine facility for fully vaccinated helpers. But the rooms in the Kwai Chung hotel have been fully booked until November.

A 21-day quarantine period at Penny’s Bay costs HK$10,080, or HK$480 per night. For those who stay at the Silka Tsuen Wan, the three-week period quarantine is priced at HK$16,800 or HK$800 a night.

FDWs who received their Covid-19 jabs in Hong Kong may choose to stay for quarantine in these two facilities, or also book at any of the 36 hotels designated by the Hong Kong government.
