Vaccinated Hong Kong residents may start registering online on June 15 for a chance to win a new HK$10.8-million flat among other prizes, organisers of the lucky draw said Wednesday.

Residents aged 18 and above who have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine in Hong Kong before Sept. 1. can submit their applications through the lucky draw website starting 9 a.m. of June 15.

For persons previously infected with Covid-19, they will be eligible to join the lottery after getting inoculated with one Covid-19 vaccine dose in Hong Kong.

Applications will close at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 1, Sino Group said in its press release.

Only permanent identity card holders have a chance to win the 449-sq. ft. flat in Sino Group’s Grand Central development in Kwun Tong. The flat is sponsored by Sino Group’s Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation Limited and Chinese Estates Holdings Limited.

Sponsors will shoulder any Hong Kong stamp duty, registration fees and solicitors’ fees involved for the winner to receive the grand prize, and management fees of the flat for the first year.

Twenty prizes of a prepaid card or credit card with a value of HK$100,000 each will be given away to both permanent and non-permanent identity card holders. Among those eligible to win these are those with employment visas such as domestic workers.

The winners will be randomly drawn on Sept. 8 and will be announced on the website:

Winners must present the original Hong Kong Identity card and the original electronic record or hard copy of their Covid-19 vaccination record in the city to redeem the prize.

This is just one of the several initiatives from the private sector to help boost Hong Kong’s sluggish inoculation rate.

The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong, one of Hong Kong’s major business organisations, also announced on Wednesday it will give away more than HK$5 million in rewards to people who received the jab in Hong Kong.

In a statement, residents who have had their first vaccine dose may enjoy discounts in various participating businesses starting mid-June.

The Hong Kong Association Banks also unveiled its own offer for fully inoculated residents. Its members will contribute to a lucky draw where winners could take home HK$100,000 spending credit or shopping vouchers.
