Wounded 43-year old Filipino man in critical condition
The Hong Kong Government reported over telephone interview that the 43-year old Filipino man who was wounded after being shot by responding police officers was in critical condition as of this afternoon, 25 January.
The Filipino man sustained shot wounds to his hand and abdomen, and was sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital by helicopter in conscious state.
The Police reported that they received a noise nuisance report involving the said man yesterday at 10:41pm at unit on Wing On Street, Peng Chau.
When police officers arrived to the scene and conducted investigation, the Filipino man, named in other news outlet as Oliver, suddenly turned emotional, and suspectedly assaulted a male police officer with hands, pushed him down the stairs, chased him and attempted to assault him again.
Facing threats to life, the male police officer gave verbal warnings to the foreign man but in vain and subsequently fired three shots at him.
Another 33-year-old Filipino man suspectedly obstructed and assaulted another male police officer with hands. He was arrested for assaulting police officers and obstructing police officers in due execution of their duties, and is being detained for enquiries.
Two male police officers, sustaining minor injuries, were sent to Ruttonjee Hospital by helicopter in conscious state.
In a Press Conference this afternoon, Acting Marine Superintendent Au Yeung Ki, said that the Police officer facing threats repeatedly gave verbal warnings to the Filipino man, and subsequently the police officer fired the three shots.
