MANILA:  Twenty boxes of whitening beauty products known as glutathione  from Malaysia were intercepted by the Bureau Of Customs Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on  Monday Morning.

NAIA District Customs Collector Edgar Macabeo said the shipment arrived and was consigned to a certain Cynthia San Diego and Nora Poblete of Mountain View Village, Marikina City.

Macabeo said the BOC confiscated the shipments after the consignees failed to obtain an import permit from the Bureau of Food and Drugs Administration (BFAD).

Macabeo added that the shipment will be sent to the BFAD for the laboratory tests to determine if the beauty products are genuine and suitable for human use.

The consignees will be facing charges of violations of Tariff and  Customs Code of the Philippines.
