4 men nabbed over P25M shabu concealed in parcel
FOUR suspected drug couriers who claimed a parcel containing an estimated P25-million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) at DHL Pasay City were apprehended by the Customs’ Anti- Illegal Drugs group.
NAIA customs district Collector Ed Macabeo identified the suspects as Isnairah Duranggun Pundato, Casan Osor Rainang, Jamal Aminah Tantao and Alnor Sultan Pundato.
Upon further interview, it was learned that Pundato, was the sender of the parcel, and James Corpuz, named as the consignee of the parcel, were the same person.
Macabeo said the parcel originated from Mexico and arrived last month.
According to Customs officer Babes Calixto the parcel was declared to be containing a Sikaflex Sealant with gross weight of 20.6 kilos with a declared of 660 US dollars. Approximate weight of apprehended drugs was 1.975kgs
The parcel was subjected to x-ray inspection by the Ninoy Aquino International Airport District Non-Intrusive Team.
After examination, it was found that the parcel contained an undisclosed amount of shabu hidden inside 25 pieces of cylindrical tubes disguised as sikaflex sealant tubes.
Macabeo ordered his men to wait for the consignee to claim the parcel.
A case is expected to be filed before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s office.
