The Labour Department (LD) is inviting employers of foreign domestic helpers (FDHs), especially first-time employers, to attend a talk on employment rights and their obligations to FDHs.

In a statement, the LD said it will hold the talk on August 31 at 7:30pm in the Lecture Hall of the Hong Kong Space Museum at 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui.

“The employment rights and obligations of employers of foreign domestic helpers will be introduced,” the Labour Department said.

The LD said it invited Professor Stephen Chiu, Chair Professor in Sociology of the Education University of Hong Kong, to share his 20-plus years of experience on the common problems faced by employers in hiring and living with foreign domestic helpers.

“Employers of foreign domestic helpers, especially first-time employers, are welcome to attend,” the LD said.

It said the seminar will be conducted in Cantonese and admission is free. Seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and the enrolment deadline is on August 28.

The LD added that the enrolment form can be downloaded from the department’s website (www.labour.gov.hk). For enquiries, please call 2852-4000.
