A 32-year-old Filipino domestic helper died yesterday (September 1) of an apparent heart attack in Yuen Long, according to the police.

A police spokesperson said the worker was brought unconscious to the Pok Oi Hospital in Au Tau, Yuen Long but the doctors were not able to revive her.

“She was taken there unconscious and was later certified as dead. The initial investigation showed that there was nothing suspicious about her death,” the spokeswoman said.

She said a friend of the victim called the police at around 12:05 p.m. yesterday while the worker was at a clinic at 218-230 Castle Peak Road.

“The (worker) collapsed and so her friend called the police. Emergency response personnel arrived and brought her to the hospital,” the police spokeswoman said.

“She had a record of physical illness,” she added.

The officer also said that an autopsy would be conducted to determine the exact cause of the worker’s death.

The case had also been reported to the Philippine Consulate General (PCG), which is preparing to provide assistance to the worker’s family as it also prepares for the repatriation of her remains back to the Philippines.

Last month, at least two Filipino domestic died here in Hong Kong apparently due heart disease or due to a stroke, a PCG official said.
