Suspect in alleged rape of Filipina in Central district faces court

Police told Hong Kong News on July 20 that a man charged with the reported rape of a Filipina early this month has faced the Eastern Magistrates’ Court in San Wan Ho.

“His case was mentioned at the Eastern Magistrates’ Court on July 20,” the police spokeswoman said. Mention hearings are conducted to see if the parties are ready to proceed with the trial.

“A Filipina reported to us on July 5 that she was raped in Central District,” she said.

The police said the suspect, an African, was arrested on July 17 in Daqiling village in Yuen Long.

“The African male is 36 years old, while the Filipina is 38 years old.”
