T3 issued as Observatory warns stronger wind

THE Observatory issued the StrongWind Signal No.3 as tropical storm Khanun moved closer to Hong Kong.

“This means that winds with mean speeds of 41 to 62 kilometres per hour are expected,” the Obsevatory said.

It added that at 8 p.m., the severe tropical storm was  estimated to be about 560 kilometres southeast of Hong Kong (near 18.4 degrees north 117.6 degrees east) and is forecast to move northwest at about 20 kilometres per hour across the northern part of the South China Sea and intensify.
