Japanese tourist complains vs. ‘tanim-bala’

A Japanese tourist leaving for Japan on Sunday was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport after bullets were found in his luggage. The suspect denied that the bullets were his.

Kazunobu Sakamoto, 33, Japanese national was arrested by members of Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP) after Office for Transportation Security (OTS) personnel found two 9mm bullets of in his baggage when he went into NAIA Terminal 2’s initial security screening at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Sakamoto, a resident of Meguro, Tokyo was bound for Japan when intercepted at the initial x-ray screening checkpoint by the OTS personnel. Sakamoto’s baggage was subjected to manual inspection by the OTS personnel and the two bullets were found in the right side pocket of his baggage, allegedly concealed in white long sleeve upper garment.

Sakamoto was charged before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s office for violations of illegal possession of live ammunition. He was detained at the AVSEU-NCR after he failed to post bail for his temporary liberty.
