DFA warns vs job offers in Poland

The Department of Foreign Affairs has warned Filipino jobseekers against entities asking them to pay application fees in exchange for placements to Poland.

In its advisory, the DFA warned applicants that such job offers may not be legitimate.

The department said based on information provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Polish work permits are issued only by Voivode, where the company or place of residence of a person who hires an employee or the company to which a foreigner is assigned is registered.

The MFA has reminded migrant workers in Poland that employers bear the sole responsibility of paying and acquiring the necessary permits to hire foreign workers.

“The entity entrusting the foreigner with the execution of work applies for a work permit for the foreigner,” Poland’s migrant information site said.

However, workers already in Poland who wish to change jobs “have to obtain a new permit.”

The MFA also does not recommend making any payments to entities which offer work or demand payment for obtaining a work permit in Poland, the foreign affairs department stressed.

“The reliability of job offers and related documents should be verified with the relevant Offices of the Voivode,” the DFA said.

The DFA said Filipinos having doubts as to the reliability of entities that offer jobs in Poland are encouraged to check these offers directly with the Polish consular office.
