Explosion injures Pinoy in Yemen

AN overseas Filipino worker was injured in an explosion in strife-torn Yemen, Foreign Affairs spokesman Charles Jose said.

“He was taken to a hospital for treatment and subsequently released. He is now out of danger and is recuperating from his injuries,” Jose said. The DFA official said the building explosion occurred in Fajhateen district in capital Sana’a.

The Philippine government has enforced a mandatory evacuation of its workers in Yemen in February due to heightened security concerns.

Since the evacuation started, the government has been able to bring home 537 workers, but close to 300 have remained.
